Hone (“Hone,” “we,” “us”) is a workout-tracking app created and operated by the Hone team. This policy explains what information the app collects, how it is used, and the choices you have. We built Hone to need as little personal data as possible — we do not use advertising, we do not track you across other apps or websites, and we never sell your data.
We only collect what the app needs to work for you:
If you grant permission, Hone reads the following from the Apple Health app to show your fitness progress: steps, active and resting energy, body weight, VO₂ max, walking/running distance, body-fat percentage, lean body mass, and workout sessions. Granting Health access is entirely optional and the app works fully without it.
Consistent with Apple’s requirements, Health data is never used for advertising or marketing, is never sold, and is never shared with third parties for their own use.
Your information is used solely to provide app functionality: to save and display your workouts, sync them across your devices, show your progress and health charts, manage your account and Hone+ subscription, and send the workout reminders you schedule. We do not use it for advertising, profiling, or any form of cross-app or cross-site tracking.
When you use an account, your data is stored using Google Firebase (Authentication, Cloud Firestore, and Cloud Storage), which acts as our data processor and hosts the information securely on our behalf. Firebase processes this data only to provide the storage and sync service to Hone. If you use the app without an account, your data stays on your device only.
We do not sell your personal information and we do not share it with third parties for their own purposes. Data is shared only with our infrastructure provider (Google Firebase) strictly to operate the app, and with Apple to process subscriptions. We may disclose information if required to do so by law.
Your data is retained for as long as your account exists. You can delete your account at any time in Settings → account → Delete Account. Deleting your account permanently removes your workouts, schedule, sessions, profile details, avatar, and the derived activity score from our systems, and removes your authentication record. You can also remove your synced Health-derived score separately via Settings → Remove Health Data.
Access to your stored data is restricted to your authenticated account. Data is transmitted over encrypted HTTPS connections and access rules prevent one account from reading another account’s data.
Hone is not directed to children and is intended for users aged 13 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
You can access and edit your profile details in the app, export or review your data by viewing it in the app, and delete all of it via account deletion. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR or CCPA; to exercise them, contact us at the address below.
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected here with a new “Last updated” date.
